Quadraphonics:
2011 Evergreen District Champions

Quadraphonics Quartet
Quadraphonics at District Convention, September 30, 2011: (l-r)
Ken Potter, Dean Waters, Steve Morin and Bryan Jones

Ken Potter, tenor, hails from Montana and Colorado and now currently lives in sunny Long Beach, CA. Ken is a freelance composer and musician and is the Music Director for First Christian Church in Torrance. Ken currently sings with the Masters of Harmony Chorus from Santa Fe Springs CA, having earned six of their seven gold medals at International Competition. Ken is also a certified Music Judge in the Society's judging program.

Though now living in Oregon, Dean Waters, lead, is a California transplant who holds a wealth of talent and accomplishments in the Barbershop Harmony Society. Dean joined the Society in 1988 and won two gold medals with the Masters of Harmony in 1990 and 1996. His first quartet, Rhythm & Rhyme, won the Far Western District quartet contest in 1993 and placed in the top-20 at International Competition for the next five years. Dean has sung with Finale, which captured the Far Western District title in 2001 and placed in the top-10 at International the following year. Next up was The Dean's List, which captured the Evergreen District Quartet Championship in 2006 and the Forest Grove Ballad Contest in 2007. In 2009, Dean (along with Steve) took top honors in Forest Grove singing with The Treble Makers two years ago and again this year with Quadraphonics.

The baritone is Bryan Jones. Bryan began his barbershop career in 1990 in Quincy, IL, and since moving to the Northwest has sung with the Portland Metro Chapter's Bridge Town Sound Chorus and is a currently a member of the Salem SenateAires. Since the beginning of Quadraphonics, Bryan moved from a the very familiar and “comfy” part of lead to the "quirky and difficult" part of baritone, but has worked hard and held on tight for a big win at Forest Grove this year, a win at the Evergreen District Preliminary Quartet Qualification--earning the right to compete at International this summer in Kansas City, MO--and already has four shows under his belt. Not bad for a “greenhorn” baritone.

Steve Morin, bass, is a member of QCED, the Quartet Champions of the Evergreen District, having won the quartet contest in 1988 with Four Cryin’ Out Loud. He is the current director of the Evergreen District Championship Chorus, the Salem SenateAires Men’s Chorus. He has also been a member of one of the District's youngest and most exciting quartets, DICE, the 1997 Evergreen District Division IV Champions and 1997 second place District quartet. Other quartets Steve has sung with are Ring Masters (age 19), Capitol City Sound, Members Only, Harmony Heights, Done Deal, Sold Out (which placed 19th at the International Competition in Louisville in 2004), and The Alliance. Under his leadership since the ripe old age of 19, Steve and the SenateAires have won the Evergreen District 11 times out of 14! A current record!
